HENDERSON- Mrs. Rebecca Hunt Adcock, age 89 died Sunday, June 17, 2012, at her home.Born September 4, 1922 in Granville County, she was the daughter of the late David Cameron Hunt and Minnie Viamira Adams Hunt.Mrs. Adcock was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.She was a member of First Baptist Church, Currin/JOY Sunday School Class, a volunteer with the ARK Tutoring Program, and a former Sunday School teacher for over thirty years. Mrs. Adcock served as a Girl Scout Leader of Troop 148.She was an avid reader and bridge player.
Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday, at 4:00 PM at Elmwood Cemetery by Dr. Marion D. Lark and Rev. Linwood Jarrell.
She is survived by two daughters, Margaret Adcock Kittrell and husband, Michael of Henderson and Rebecca Adcock Finch and husband, Stewart of Charlotte; a son, William L. Adcock, Jr. and wife, Barbara of Henderson; five grandchildren, William L. Adcock, III, Cindy Adcock Carey and husband, Bryan, Jonathan Eugene Adcock, all of Henderson, Elizabeth Finch Smiley and husband, Thomas of Fort Mill, SC, and Virginia Lynn Finch Runde and husband, Richard of Waxhaw, NC; three great grandchildren, Kyle Stewart Smiley of Fort Mill, SC, Kristen Elizabeth Runde and Richard Brandon Runde of Waxhaw, NC; and several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Ann Rose Allen of Henderson and a special nephew, Dr. Eugene Adcock, III and wife, CarolAnn of Winston-Salem, NC.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Adcock was preceded in death by her husband, William Lyon Adcock, Sr.
The family will receive friends at the home Wednesday night from 7:00 until 9:00.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the ARK TutoringProgram C/O First Baptist Church, PO Box 75, Henderson, NC 27536.
