Rebecca Henderson Brame, age 101, a former resident of 272 County Club Drive, died Saturday, January 5, 2013, at Glenaire Retirement Community in Cary.Born on October 11, 1911 in Croft, Mecklenburg Co., NC, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Simril McDowell Henderson and Pearl McArtan Henderson.Mrs. Brame was a teacher for many years in Vance County, and was a retired librarian in the Vance County School System.She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma, Daughters of The American Revolution, Sans Souci Literary Club, and a volunteer for the American Red Cross. She was also a member of The First Presbyterian Church.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Elmwood Cemetery by the Rev. Charles Burton Colson.
She is survived by one daughter, Caroline Brame Colson and husband, Willard H. Colson, Jr., of Greenville, NC; one son, William H. Brame of Henderson; two grandchildren, Kimberly Colson Edmondson (Thurston) and Charles Burton Colson (Melissa); and eight grandchildren.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Burton Brame; and one sister, Christian Henderson Bass.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Willard Colson, Jr., Thurston C. Edmondson, III, John Wester, William T. Bartholomew,Herman Davis, George Watkins, David Hicks, and Joshua Kelly.
