HENDERSON- Rebecca Anne Edwards, 71, of 108 Fernwood Creek Court, died Friday, April 12, 2019 at Maria Parham Health.Born May 19, 1947 in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Marvin Edwards and Evelyn Knight Edwards.She was an active member of First United Methodist Church where she served in numerous capacities over many years.She recently celebrated 34 years of sobriety and was a proud supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at First United Methodist Church at 2:00 PM by Rev. Bobby Fletcher.
She is survived by her twin sister, Ruth Elyse Edwards and another sister, Rachel Edwards Hedrick, both of Henderson; a special friend, Ray Patterson of Henderson; three nieces, Amy Rebecca Swisher; Christine Ruth Edwards; and Evelyn Greye Hedrick; a nephew, Bradley Victor Hedrick; and her beloved cat, "Sweet Pea."
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Fletta Wood Edwards, and a brother-in-law, Victor Coleman Hedrick.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7:00 till 8:30 at J.M. White Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Ruth Edwards, 109 Fernwood Creek Court, Henderson, NC 27536.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 114 Church St., Henderson, N.C. 27536 or Vance County Animal Shelter (Medical Use Fund), 1243 Brodie Road, Henderson, NC 27537.
