Born in Granville County, she was the daughter of the late Ruben Henry Newman and Margaret Clark Newman, and was the widow of Elmo E. Roberson.She was a homemaker and was retired from the Vance County School System where she was employed for twenty years.She was a member of South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 pm at South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. Frank Sossamon.Burial will follow in the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
She is survived by two daughters, Jane Renn and husband, Dennis and Kay Barrier and husband, Jimmy of Henderson; two granddaughters, Lori Renn Abbott and husband Dennis of Henderson and Kelly Renn Castillo and husband Robert of Angier; and two great grandchildren, Emily Grace Castillo and John Renn Abbott.
The family will receive friends Monday night from 7 until 8:30 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at her home on Ruin Creek Road.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Dan Robinson, Ronnie Noel, Raymond Noel, Irvin Robinson, Jr., Dale Roberson, C. T. Roberson, Trent Ayscue, Tim Robinson, Randy Abbott and David Abbott.
