He was retired from Harriett & Henderson Yarns, Inc. where he worked for 38 years in Textile Management.He was a Veteran of the U. S. Army and served in the North Carolina National Guard. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where he served on the Church Council.Rencher was a former basketball coach for the church youth league and also coached baseball and football for the Vance County Rec. Department, and was an avid N. C. State fan.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 6, at 2 pm in the J. M. White Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. John M. Check and Jack Richardson.Burial will follow in Harris Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ruth Rowell Moore, of the home; one son, Mike Moore and wife, Lee of Henderson; two grandchildren, Kelly Gregory and husband, Michael and Eric Norwood and wife, Amanda; four great grandchildren, David, Tru’Lee, M. J., and Hannah, his sister-in-law, Jan Hendricks and husband Jack; his brother-in-law, Ty Rowell and wife, Pearl; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Avent Moore.
The family will receive friends Saturday night from 7 until 8:30 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home at 1895 Ruin Creek Road.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Joel S. Harris, Ken Stegall, Dean Thornton, Billy Currin, Eric Norwood, Dale Stepusin, Phil Hendricks, and Jonathan Rowell.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Harris Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Lawrence Brame 280 Kelly Rd, Henderson, NC 27537, or the First United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund, 114 Church Street, Henderson, NC27536.
