Reuben Joseph "Popeye" Perkinson, Jr., age 76, a resident of 128 Pinewood Dr., died Sunday, May 25, 2014 at Senior Citizens Nursing Home in Henderson.
Born on January 8, 1938 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Rueben Joseph Perkinson, Sr. and Gladys Stevenson Perkinson. He was employed as a mechanic at the former Henderson Honda.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 am in the J.M. White Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Donald A. Perkinson and Rev. Calvin Hedgepeth.Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Esther Ayscue Perkinson of Henderson; one son, Darrell Wayne Perkinson and wife, Shirley of Henderson; one brother, Bill Perkinson of Henderson; three grandchildren, and one great grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Tommy Bass Perkinson and Jackie Wayne Perkinson.
The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 7 until8:30 pm at J.M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home of Darrell and Shirley Perkinson 88 Pinewood Drive.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Norton Perkinson, Hunter Choplin, David Ayscue, Johnny Ayscue, Ricky Railey, Terry Perkinson, Dennis Railey, Joshua Woodlief and Ronnie Perkinson.
