Rev. James Alvin Williams, age 91, a former resident of Louisburg Manor, died Sunday, January 22, 2012, in a local nursing home.Born on July 27, 1920 in Pender County, he was the son of the late Alvin Shaw Williams and Annie Thompson Williams.Rev. Williams was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II.He was a retired Methodist minister and a retired member of the North Carolina Methodist Conference. He was a AF & AM past Master Mason in theWilmington Masonic Lodge #319 and a past 32nd Degree Scottish Rite bodies. Rev. Williams was a member of Plank Chapel United Methodist Church, and a former member of the United Methodist Men and the Allen Bible Class.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 by the Rev. Dr. Carolyn Roy and Rev. Bud Budzinski at Plank Chapel United Methodist Church.Burial will followin the Plank Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
He is survived by one daughter, Kay Williams Deans and husband James of Kittrell; one granddaughter, Pam Gregory Dickerson ; three great grandsons, Aaron Evans, Zach Dickerson and Samuel Dickerson; two step-grandchildren James Deans; Jr. and wife Donna, and Shannon Franks and husband Gary; and three step- great grandchildren.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Nellie Lowe Williams.
The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 7:00 until 8:30 at J.M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home of James and Kay Deans at 2151 Kittrell Road.
Serving as active pall bearers will be the Plank Chapel United Methodist Men and Edward Dickerson.
