HENDERSON- Rev. Rodney Dane Inscoe, Sr., 74, died Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Duke University Hospital. Born in Vance County on March 11, 1948, he was the son of the late Ira Hunter Inscoe, Jr. and Gwendolyn Johnson Inscoe. Rodney was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Vietnam era, a member of the local D.A.V. and a member of the American Legion Post #60 where he served as Chaplain. He was a member of South Henderson Church of God where he served in numerous capacities including being an associate minister, a Church of God Evangelist, the Sunday School Superintendent for 35 years, served on the Pastor’s Council and a church musician playing the drums. He was retired from Variety Wholesalers and volunteered at Maria Parham Health as a Community Chaplain. Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 4, 2022 at 3:00 PM at South Henderson Church of God by Rev. Mark Bateman. Burial with military honors will follow at Sunset Gardens. Rodney is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy Kearney Inscoe of the home; his daughter, Michelle Y. Inscoe (Haynes Marshall) of Henderson; a son, Rodney “Rod” Dane Inscoe, Jr. (Ann) of Henderson; three granddaughters, DeAnna Gordon (Brandon), Taylor Inscoe (Jamie Orr), Victoria Inscoe (Nick Price); two great grandsons, Jackson Gordon and Connor Gordon; and a brother, Charles “Dickie” Inscoe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Inscoe. Serving as pallbearers will be Milton Abbott, Henry Abbott, C. W. Davis, G.G. Crowder, Ray Patrick, Pete Collier, Alvin Johnson, Steve Edwards, Andy Roberson and Johnny Jones. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30PM until 3:00 PM on Sunday at South Henderson Church of God.
