VIRGINIA BEACH, VA- Rex Wayne Pulley, 68, of Virginia Beach, VA, died Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at Senatra Hospice House in Virginia Beach after battling cancer since June of 2021. Born June 9, 1953, in Vance County, he was the son of the late Clyde M. Pulley Sr. and Carlia Parrish Pulley. Rex worked as a salesman with Riverside Brick Company. A devout Christian, he was a former member of Union Chapel Methodist Church, where he served as a Sunday School teacher and as superintendent of Sunday School. Rex graduated from Vance High School in 1971 and attended Atlantic Christian College, now known as Barton College, after being awarded a baseball scholarship. He is fondly remembered for his love of family, friends, golf, and his beloved dog “Snoopy.” A celebration memorial service will be held Sunday, January 30, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Union Chapel United Methodist Church, 6535 Raleigh Rd, Kittrell, conducted by Rev. Radford Frazier. The family will receive friends at a reception in the adjoining reception hall immediately following the memorial service. Rex is survived by his wife, Jackie Richardson Pulley of the home; two brothers, Clyde M. Pulley Jr. and wife Mildred of Kittrell, John E. Pulley and wife Carolyn of Madison, MS, and his dearly loved nephew and niece, Scott Pulley of Henderson, and Beverly Pulley of Raleigh, as the three of them always kept “Granny Pulley” hopping and on her toes.
