KITTRELL- Mr. Rex Gerald Woodlief, 79, a resident of 3995 Bobbitt Road, Kittrell, died Wednesday, September 07, 2016 at Maria Parham Medical Center.Born in Vance County on October 6, 1936 he was the son of the late Rex D. Woodlief and Naomi Bobbitt Woodlief. He graduated as valedictorian from Zeb Vance High School, was a retired tobacco farmer and former member of the NC National Guard.He was also a faithful member of Plank Chapel United Methodist Church where he served as an usher and on the Counting Committee.Gerald was an avid gardener and took great pride in his family and his home.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00AM at Plank Chapel United Methodist Church by Dr. Carolyn Roy.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Wadlinger Woodlief of the home; his sister, Judy W. Wilson and husband Mac of Kittrell; two brothers, Gary L. Woodlief and wife Carolyn and C. Mike Woodlief and wife Betty all of Henderson; seven nieces and nephews; and his step-daughter, Renee Lyn Stringfellow of Chickasaw, AL.
The family will receive friends following the service at Plank Chapel UMC.
Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Coghill, John Abbott, Todd Wilson, Mike Ranes, Daryl Spencer, Scott Ritchey, Bruce Newman and Carlton Brown.
