CLARKSVILLE, VA- Richard Carl “Dick” Schaenzer, 90, a resident of Ivy Hill Road, died Saturday, August 19, 2023 at his home. Born on July 16, 1933 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he was the son of the late Norbert Nicholas Schaenzer and Anna Rohde Schaenzer. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean War. He retired from Square D. Electrical Company as the Corporate Human Resources Director. Dick was a lifelong devoted Catholic and an active member of St. James Catholic Church where he served on the building committee and was instrumental in the gymnasium addition, and was a member of Knights of Columbus A memorial service with military and Knights of Columbus honors will be held Thursday, August 24, 2023 at 2:00 PM at St. James Catholic Church He is survived by his wife, Adelaide Laemmrich Schaenzer of the home; three daughters, Joyce Grainger (Jerry) and Mary Berls (Bill) of Raleigh, and Ann Stott (Johnny) of Henderson; one son, Tom Schaenzer (Denise) of Auburn Hills, MI; six grandchildren, Morgan Southerland (Matt) Natalie Picano (John), Jack Berls, Cole Schaenzer, Brad Schaenzer, and John Stott, Jr.; five great grandchildren, Madison, John, Airlie, Camille, and Camden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Dolores Chesser; and one brother, Gordon Schaenzer. The family will receive friends follow the service at St. James Catholic Church.
