Robert "Bob" Thomas Carter

September 20, 1943 — September 13, 2024

HENDERSON – Robert Thomas “Bob” Carter, 80, of Meadow Lane, died Friday, September 13, 2024 at Maria Parham Health. Born September 20, 1943 in Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Elaine Wesley Scaglione and Gerald A Scaglione (natal John Justin Carter). He was a proud U.S. Army Reserve Veteran and retired from Citibank where he was a Vice President for National Training. A loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen Smallwood “Kat” Carter ofthe home; his daughter, Amy Heyden Smith (Jamie) of Henderson; his son, Robert Thomas Carter, Jr. (Deborah) of Highland Falls, NY; three grandchildren, Abigail Carter, Bethany Carter and Shawn Carter Smith. His loss is also mourned by his three loving sisters, Francesca Clines (Loren) of Ithaca, NY, Elaine Groglio (Dr Greg Groglio) of Pearl River, LA and Patricia “Penny” Buderwitz, (Joseph) of Brookfield, CT., as well as numerous nieces and nephews and beloved friends. To honor Robert’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Kat, Amy Heyden and Robert Jr invite you to please privately celebrate Bob’s memory in your own ways. Bob loved God, Country, his family and Notre Dame (the latter two could be flip-flopped). He celebrated life everyday and would expect nothing short of us giving him a good old fashioned Irish wake. Please raise a glass in spirit with us, dance a little jig, belt out that Pub song and give the person next to you a kiss in his memory. He will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he’s touched throughout his life.
