Robert Lawrence Edwards, age 65, a resident of 1397 Ruin Creek Road, died Tuesday, May 08, 2012, at his home.Born on February 27, 1947 in Vance County, he was the son of the late William Edwards and Helen Wright Edwards.Lawrence was employed as a mail carrier with the U. S. Postal Service, and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00AM at Calvary Baptist Church by Dr. Gene Wood.Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Robinson Edwards of the home; two daughters, Melissa Waddell and husband, Lonnie and Rita Gupton and husband, Curt of Henderson; two sisters, Carolyn Ellington and husband, Tim of Virginia Beach, VA and Gail Prather and husband, Steven of Oxford; two granddaughters, Ashley Waddell, and Holly Waddell; one grandson, Hunter Twisdale; and two step granddaughters, Leeah Gupton and Tristen Gupton all of Henderson.
The family will receive friends at the home at 1397 Ruin Creek Road and after the service at Sunset Gardens.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Randy Abbott, Mark Abbott, Buddy Robinson, Tony Allen, Charles Ayscue, Asa Pegram, JohnTaylor, C.T. Overton, Bobby Choplin, Timmy Ellington, Billy Overton, and Quentin Buchanan.
