KITTRELL- Robert Charles "Bob" Ellis, Jr., 79 a resident of 2682 Beechtree Trail, died Thursday, May 10, 2018, at his home.Born in Cleveland County on March 19, 1939, he was the son of the late Robert Charles Ellis, Sr. and Ruth Gardner Ellis.Bob was a graduate of North Carolina State University where he received his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering and his Masters Degree in Business.He was an Electrical Engineer, and was employed with Honeywell in the space program.An active member of Kittrell Baptist Church, he served as a Deacon and on the Building Committee.He was a member of the Zeb Vance and Gorman Ruritan Clubs, serving as a past president of both clubs, and was active in Boy Scouts and was a former scout leader.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 3 pm at Kittrell Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Barbara Murphy.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen Carole Kerley Ellis of the home; one daughter, Catherine "Cathy" Willis and husband, Ian of Kittrell; and one brother, Stephen Ellis of Salisbury.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Robert Charles "Bobby" Ellis, III; and one grandson, Robert Charles Ellis, IV.
The family will receive friends Sunday night from 7 until 8:30 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.
At other times they will be at the home at 2682 Beechtree Trail.
