HENDERSON-Robert Ira "Bobby" Frazier, Jr., age 87, a resident of 30 Leon Frazier Road, died Sunday, December 21, 2014, at Durham Select Specialty Hospital.Born on August 14, 1927 in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Robert Ira Frazier, Sr. and Carrie Belle Hoyle Frazier.He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans.He was retired from Harriett & Henderson Yarns, Inc. and was a member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church for more than 60 years and a member of the Adult Bible Class. Bobby worked with the Henderson Recreation Dept. where he refereed football games, umpired baseball games, and helped with other sporting events for 44 years.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 am at Union Chapel Untied Methodist Church by Pastor Brian Merritt. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Keith Frazier of the home; two daughters, Debra F. Reavis of Willow Springs and Susan F. Freund and husband Dmitri of Henderson; one son, Robert Ira Frazier, III and wife Nora of Raleigh; three brothers, John Frazier and wife, Betty of Kittrell, Lewis Frazier and wife Joyce, of New Bern, and Jerry Frazier of Louisburg; two sisters-in-law, Breda Frazier of Henderson and Mildred Ross and husband, Ralph of Henderson; three grandchildren, Kimberly Reavis, Brooke Dansberger, and Mary Morgan Myerscough and husband Steven; and many nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Sylvia F. Turner and husband Lloyd; and one brother, Julius Frazier.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Tuesday from 9 until 10:30 am in the Fellowship Hall at Union Chapel United Methodist Church.At other times they will be at the home.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Gene Frazier, James Ayscue, Ric Garrett, Daniel Garrett, Barry Frazier, and Tony Sanford.Serving as honorary pall bearers will be Charles Garrett and members of the Adult Bible Class of Union Chapel United Methodist Church.
