Robert Carroll Montague

STOVALL- Robert Carroll Montague, Jr., 68, died Monday, December 10, 2018 at Duke University Medical Center.Born in Granville County on February 14, 1950, he was the son of the late Robert Carroll Montague and Blanche Gold Stovall Montague.Robert was a graduate of Wake Forest University and retired from Suntrust Bank, formerly Central Carolina Bank, where he worked as a mortgage loan officer and Vice President of the Oxford branch.His civic and professional involvement included being a Kiwanian and a member of the American Institute of Banking, as well as serving on committees at Vance Granville Community College.An active member of Bullock Baptist Church, he served as deacon, choir member and was instrumental in the Firewood Ministry.He will be remembered for his great love of God and family, his church and his friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Bullock Baptist Church by Rev. Tony Futrell and Dr. Gus Gillespie.Burial will follow in the Royster Family Cemetery. Robert is survived by his wife, Fann Cutts Montague of the home; his son, Robert Thomas Montague and wife, Heather, of Stovall; his daughter, Anne Marie M. White and husband, Scott, of Henderson; three grandchildren, George Tazwell Montague, William Robert White and Marie Scott White; his sister, Linda Stovall Montague of Emerald Isle; and numerous cousins. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Thursday from 12:00 PM till 1:45 PM in the family life center of Bullock Baptist Church and at other times at the home. Serving as active pallbearers will be Roy Montague, Roger Montague, John Abbott Jones, Thornton Stovall, Ben Moore, Tommy Peacock, Jim Cross and Foxy Matthews. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Guy Breedlove, Kent Currin, Dr. Tom Houlihan, Henry Jennings, John Penny, Royster Washington and Pratt Winston.
