Robert Clifford Pirie, Jr., 75, a former resident of Gary Street, died Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at Granville Medical Center.Born in Vance County on February 28, 1944, he was the son of the late Robert Clifford Pirie, Sr. and Eva Averette Pirie.He was a Veteran of the United States Marines serving in Vietnam.He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was retired from the Vance County School System where he was an elementary school teacher at Zeb Vance School.A private burial will be held at Sunset Gardens and a celebration of Pirie's life will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at 7 pm in the multi-purpose room at Zeb Vance Elementary School.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Laura P. Ayscue; and his niece, Laura Teresa Clark Dickerson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Vance-Granville Community College Endowment Fund for the Robert C. Pirie, Jr. Scholarship, PO Box 917, Henderson, NC27536.
