Roger William Johnson, Sr., age 68, a resident of 1287 Edwards Road, died Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Maria Parham Medical Center.Born in Vance County on August 20, 1945, he was the son of the late Charlie William Johnson and Lillie Kittrell Johnson.He was a member of Harris Chapel United Methodist Church.He served in the NC National Guard and was a retired shift supervisor at Harriett & Henderson Yarns, Inc. where he worked for 33 years.
A graveside service will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM in the Harris Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery by Pastor Glenn Stallsmith.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Glover Johnson of the home; one son, Roger William J.J.
Johnson, Jr. and wife, Janette of Henderson; one daughter, Kimberly Johnson Ivey and husband, Billy of Frisco, NC; one brother, J.B. Johnson and wife, Nita of Henderson; four grandchildren, Andy Johnson, Kally Ivey, Ben Johnson, and Billy Ivey, III; a special nephew, Calvin Lassiter and wife Vicki; a niece, Diane Anderson and husband Bill; his mother-in-law, Blanche Schweyer Glover of Henderson; and his sister-in-law, Dianne Edwards and husband, Butch of Henderson.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 7:00 PM till 8:30 PM at J.M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home at 1287 Edwards Road.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made in Rogers memory to the American Diabetes Association, PO 11454, Alexandria, VA22312, or to a charity of ones choice.
