Ronald Douglas Sommer

Ronald Douglas "Ronnie" Sommer, 77, a resident of Henderson, died Friday, September 3, 2021 at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield.Born on August 16, 1944 in Batesville, Mississippi, he was the son of the late Herman Benjamin Sommer and Josephine Saleeby Sommer.Mr. Sommer was a graduate of Louisburg College and attended Harriett Baptist Church and Raleigh Road Baptist Church.He was a retired restaurant Manager Ronnie’s Drive Inn on Raleigh Rd. No Services are planned at this time. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Rose Nelson Sommer of the home; two daughters, Joann Sommer and Marie Sommer of Jacksonville, Florida; one step-daughter, Kelly Rose Kaspar (Justin) of Benson; brother Hugh Barry Sommer (Barbara) of Longs SC; nieces and nephews, Georgia Gray (Mike), Jake Sommer (Hilda), Jerry "Dexter" Sommer (Jennifer) and their children, Larry Roush (Lek), Sheldon Sommer, and Julie Sommer.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Sommer and Benjamin Sommer.
