Ronald "Ronnie" Dane Grissom

August 22, 1951 — February 14, 2025

Ronald Dane “Ronnie” Grissom, 73, a resident of Country Lake Drive, passed away Friday, February 14, 2025, at Duke Medical Center. Born August 22, 1951, in Vance County, he was the son of the late James Fletcher Grissom and Ruth McGhee Grissom. Ronnie retired from Womack Electric Supply Company in Oxford. In business, Ronnie prided himself on the “Golden Rule.” Service and relationships were key, and his customers were of utmost importance. Along the way, he met many lifelong friends whom he was proud to serve and to be a part of their lives. He was a mentor to many young people in teaching them about his business, and in many instances taught them invaluable lessons that would stay with them throughout their careers. Most important to Ronnie were his children and grandchildren. He was their greatest fan, supporter, and to them, their greatest coach. He spent endless hours at fields and gyms working with his own children, grandchildren, and many other children in the community. He would take them to countless games and tournaments, and he lived for that very reason. Nothing excited him more than youth and high school athletics. Ronnie leaves a legacy of dedication to many youth athletes. Ronnie was a loyal friend to all that called him friend. He enjoyed golf, card games, and all sports of any kind. All with his friends. The Friday night card games in the basement were great nights of fellowship and fun, filled with endless memories of laughter that will last for life. An AVID UNC fan, basketball games at Ronnie’s house were epic. Ronnie and his wife, Linda, were married for 53 years. He loved Linda dearly and bragged on her as the best mother that his children could ever have, the best grandmother his grandchildren could have, and the best cook that any of us ever came across, which was and still is, quite true. “They can’t make it like MY wife,” he would always say. A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 17, 2025, at 3:00PM at the JM White Funeral Home Chapel. Ronnie is survived by his wife, Linda Hershman Grissom; two daughters, Dawn G. Watson and husband Jeff of Henderson, and Mandy G. Chabala and husband Billy of Oxford; one son, Austin D. Grissom of Henderson; four grandchildren, Payne Watson and wife Ashleigh, Noah Watson, Dakota Chabala, and Brooke Chabala; two brothers; Jimmy Grissom and wife Phyllis of Sylva, and Eddie and wife Sandy of Henderson. The family will receive friends Monday, February 17, 2025, from 2:00 until 3:00PM at JM White funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorials be made to J. M. White Funeral Home 60 Zeb Robinson Rd., Henderson NC, 27536, to help with Ronnie’s funeral expenses.
