Ronald Ervin Stainback Sr.

MIDDLEBURG- Ronald Ervin Stainback, Sr. 82, died Sunday, April 13, 2025 at his home. Born August 7, 1942 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Rose Belle Thompson Stainback and Charles Gray Stainback, Jr. He was a faithful member and former Trustee of Middleburg Methodist Church and an active member of his community. He was a member and chairman of the advisory board for BB&T in Warrenton for many years. Ronald was the founder and owner of Stainback Farms and Trucking as well as the owner and operator of High Dollar Tobacco Warehouse. Ronald excelled in the tobacco industry and was awarded the Southeast Flue-Cured Tobacco Farmer of the Year Award in 1990. He was an advocate for tobacco farmers and well respected by members of the farming community in Virigina and North Carolina. He loved sports, especially Yankees baseball, but his greatest love was watching whatever sport his children and grandchildren were playing. Ronald was a man of few words but meant what he said. He loved the Lord, his family, friends, and the Middleburg Community. Funeral service will be held Thursday, April 17, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Middleburg Methodist Church by Rev. Norma Roberts and Rev. Johnny Yount. Burial will follow in Middleburg Cemetery. Ronald is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nancy Greenway Stainback of the home; his daughter, Nancy Rose Stainback Lee (Martin) of Bullock; two sons, Ronald Ervin “Ronnie” Stainback, Jr. (Cheryl) and Rodney Gray Stainback (Kristy), both of Middleburg; seven grandchildren, Sallie Elizabeth Lee, Rebecca Lee Sizemore (Michael), Ronald E. “Trey” Stainback, III (Morgan), Cody Gray Stainback (Harper), Christopher Boyd Stainback (Lauryn); Ryan Hunter Stainback (Eleanor); and Caroline Michelle Stainback (Jesse); and a great-grandson, Lawson Lee Sizemore. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Jo Stainback Buchan. The family will receive friends at the home and following the service at Middleburg Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Ronald Ervin “Trey” Stainback, III, Christopher Boyd Stainback, Cody Gray Stainback, Ryan Hunter Stainback, Michael Dean Sizemore, Clarence Ray Pegram, Jr. and Zachary Ray Pegram. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Middleburg Methodist Church, P.O. Box 100, Middleburg, NC 27556.
