Rose "Rita" Travis Tanner

HENDERSON- Rose Marie “Rita” Travis Tanner, 66, of Travis Lane, died Friday, July 29, 2022 at her home. Born October 30, 1955 in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Florence Arrington Travis and James Benjamin Travis and was the widow of Ernest Leroy Tanner. She retired from AW of North Carolina. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of J.M. White Funeral Home by Rev. Will Breedlove. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens. She is survived by her daughter, Angela Travis Hester of Henderson; three grandchildren, Kodi Dickerson (Tiffany), Kristen Parker (Dustin) and Tye Hester; a great grandson, Daniel Wieninger; one sister, Virginia Taylor (Charles); and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by eight sisters, Shirley Blackmur, Mildred Wilson Travis, Shelby Jean Grissom, Hazel Wilson Parrish, Betty Ann West, Mildred Travis Ayscue, Betty Travis Nix and Sue Travis Lightell; and two brothers, James W. Travis and Vincent Leroy Travis. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM at J.M. White Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Angela Hester, 17 Travis Lane, Henderson, NC 27537. Serving as pallbearers will be Casey Orr, P.J. Layne, Richard Travis, Bobby West, Todd Parrish, Scott Dickerson and Roger Owen, Sr.
