NORLINA-Rosemarie Portelli Norwood, 80, a resident of Norlina died Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at her home.Born in Izmir, Turkey on September 6, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Nicola Polycarpo Portelli and Marie Novacovich Portelli, and was the widow of Jerry Lee Norwood.
Rosemarie was a homemaker and attended Island Creek Baptist Church where funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 am by the Rev. Johnny Yount and Pastor Sean Kavanaugh.Burial will follow in the Cokesbury United Methodist Church Cemetery.
She is survived by two daughters, Marilyn Norwood of Norlina and Jacqueline N. Martin (Brian) of Salineville, Ohio; one son, Gary Norwood of Norlina; four grandchildren, Eric Fleming, Nicole Fleming, Megan Hodges, and Ashley Martin; one great grandson, Cooper Hodges; two sisters, Erica Portelli and Paulette Chaston of England; and one brother, George Portelli of England.
Serving as pallbearers will be Clint Hodges, Eric Fleming, Michael Norwood, Dennis Edwards, Gene Vaughan, and Nathan Fleming.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday from 10:00 until 11:00 in the fellowship hall at Island Creek Baptist Church.At other times they will be at her home at 122 Pond View Lane, Norlina, NC27563.
