Ruby Davidson Duke

HENDERSON-Ruby Davidson Duke, age 95, a former resident of 915 Elm Street, died Tuesday, July 19, 2011, in a local nursing home.Born on June 20, 1916 in Guilford County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Robert C. Davidson and Daisy Kernodle Davidson, and was the widow of James Thurston Bud Duke.Mrs. Duke was a retired nurse at the former Maria Parham Hospital.She was a charter and oldest member of Harriett Baptist Church where she was a member of the Womens Missionary Union, the Senior Citizens Sunday School Class, and was active in all church organizations.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 3:00 pm at Harriett Baptist Church by the Rev. Will Breedlove, and the Rev. Jake Roberson.Burial will follow in the Union Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
She is survived by one son, Joel Thurston Duke and wife, Faye of Cary; three grandchildren, Elaine Medlin of Henderson, Grey Neal of Oxford, and Jim Duke ofEuless, TX; and five great grandchildren, Christian Medlin of Pembroke,Ryan Medlin of Henderson, Brian Neal of Raleigh and, Alora Duke and A. J. Duke of Euless. TX. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Peggy D. Neal; and two brothers, Henry Marvin Davidson and James Clifton Shorty Davidson.
The family will receive friends Friday from 2:00 until 3:00 pm prior to the service at Harriett Baptist Church. At other times they will be at the home of Charles and Elaine Medlin at 1816 Clearview Drive
Serving as active pall bearers will be, Butch Weaver, Lawrence Hilliard, Roy Morton, William Weaver, Jr., Russell Haithcock, and Brent Dillard..
