HENDERSON- Ruth Bodie McDaniel of Henderson passed away on Friday, June 5, 2015 after living a full life of 99 years.Born October 1, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Paul Thomas and Minnie Jeffcoat Bodie.She was a member of First Baptist Church where she was a member of The Joy/Currin Sunday School Class and the Sue Kelly Mission Group.
Ruth and her husband moved to Henderson in 1972 to be near her devoted daughter, Barbara Gwynn, and her grandchildren that she considered to be equally hers.Ruth played an integral role in raising and caring for her grandchildren, and they will be eternally grateful for the constant presence she had in their lives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Lamar McDaniel; her daughter, Barbara McDaniel Gwynn; four sisters; and four brothers.She is survived by her grandchildren, Karin Gwynn Cornelson, Donna Gwynn Wester, Don Hill Gwynn, Jr., Jennifer McDaniel Gwynn, John Patrick Gwynn, and Melissa Gwynn Osborne.She is also survived by 15 great grandchildren.
A private interment will be held by the family.A celebration of her life will be held Monday at 11 AM in the Leathers Memorial Chapel at First Baptist Church by Dr. Ronald S. Cava.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, PO Box 75, Henderson, NC27536.
