Ruth Parks Tharrington

Ruth Parks Tharrington, 94, a resident of NC 39 South, died Friday, November 4, 2022 at her home. Born on October 14, 1928 in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Jack Parks and Zela Newton Parks, and was the widow of Robert Benjamin “R.B.” Tharrington. Ruth was a lifetime member of First Congregational Christian Church where she served as the Financial Secretary for many years. She graduated from Henderson High School in 1946, and was a secretary for the former Rose’s Store, Inc. and a homemaker. Ruth was an avid bridge player and also enjoyed playing tennis. Graveside funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11;00 AM at Liberty Christian Church by the Rev. George Williams. She is survived by one daughter, Denise T. Knott and husband, Wesley of Henderson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Eleanor Parks. The family will receive friends following the service on Tuesday at Liberty Christian Church. The family would like to give a special “thanks” to her caregivers.
