HENDERSON- Sam Andrew Pendergrass, 80, of NC Hwy 39, died Monday, November 15, 2021 at a local nursing home. Born in Warren County on November 2, 1941, he was the son of the late May Byrd Currin Pendergrass and Raymond Pendergrass and is the widower of Judy Harris Pendergrass. He was a member of Island Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed car racing and mechanic work. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 3:00PM by Rev. Ricky Easter in the chapel of J.M. White Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Island Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Pendergrass is survived by two sons, Ricky Lane Pendergrass and wife, Sandra of Henderson and Clifton Dean Pendergrass and wife, Mary of Oxford; three brothers, Raymond Pendergrass, Ronald Pendergrass and Frank Pendergrass, all of Henderson; four grandchildren, Curtis Pendergrass, Kevin Pendergrass, Krystle Garcia, and Brittany Stancil; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Tony Pendergrass. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Thursday from 2:00PM until 3:00PM at J. M. White Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Ricky and Sandra Pendergrass, 5160 NC Hwy 39N, Henderson, NC 27537. Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Pendergrass, Jimmy Pendergrass, Steven Pendergrass, David Pendergrass, Thomas Stancil and Eduardo Garcia.
