Samuel Edgar Atkinson Iii

HENDERSON-Samuel Edgar Atkinson III, age 85, a resident of Parham Rd., passed away Saturday, August 30, 2025, at his home. Born February 15, 1940 in Crewe Va, he was the son of the late Edith Carpenter Atkinson and Samuel Edgar Atkinson Jr. Sam was owner and operator of Gateway Auto Sales, a salesman at the former Simmons Ford, and was a Trooper with the North Carolina Highway Patrol. No services are planned at this time. He is survived by his wife, Diane Smith Atkinson, of the home; one daughter, Bobbi Atkinson Brummitt and husband Tony of Henderson; one son, Samuel Edgar “Eddie” Atkinson IV and wife Kim of Raleigh; three grandchildren, Logan Atkinson, Byron Atkinson and wife Kara, and Hunter Brummitt; two great grandchildren, Asher Atkinson and Lily Atkinson; and one sister, Faye A. Bowman and husband Maurice of Sophia, NC
