Samuel Jesse Sam Littleton, age 91, a resident of 200 Orville Street died Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at Maria Parham Medical Center.Born on June 13, 1921 in Halifax County he was the son of the late Walter Littleton and Violet Green Littleton.He retired from the Henderson Police Department with the rank of Lieutenant.He attended White Memorial United Methodist Church and served on the Henderson City Council in the 1980s.
A graveside service will be held Thursday at 2:00 PM at Elmwood Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Frank Sossamon.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby McDowell Littleton of the home, four daughters, Ruby L. McConnell of Henderson, Foy L. Journigan of Henderson, Betty L. Perkins of Henderson and Jessie Hale Parker of Boydton, VA; three sisters, Lillie House of Myrtle Beach, SC, Thelma Revelle of Monks Corner, SC, and Cenobia Pond of Suffolk, VA; a brother, Arthur Larrimore of Roanoke Rapids; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Leatha Morgan; two brothers, Waddell Littleton and James Ivey; and a grandson.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Elmwood Cemetery.
