Samuel Brooks "Buddy" Overby

Samuel Brooks “Buddy” Overby, 83, a resident of Vicksboro Road, died Monday, August 15, 2022 at his home. Born on July 6, 1939 in Warren County, he was the son of the late Brooks Overby and Ethel Dickerson Overby. Buddy grew up attending Shocco United Methodist Church and was the former owner and operator of B & P Grocery in Vicksboro. A graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Shocco United Methodist Cemetery by the Rev. Allen Ayscue. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Gail Evans Overby of the home; one daughter, Lynn O. Watson of Raleigh; one step-son, Dustin Overby of Henderson; one sister, Betty O. Edwards (Wallace) of Henderson; one brother, Wilbert Overby of Norlina; six grandchildren; and one great granddaughter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Brenda Overton; two brothers, Robert Overby and Forrest Overby; and one step-son, Forrest Overby, Jr.
