HENDESON-Sandra Kaye Slaughter Richards, age 53, a resident of 3056 Faulkner Town Road, died Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.Born in Durham, NC on November 26, 1957, she was the daughter of Elmo Slaughter of Roxboro and the late Betty Bizzell Slaughter.
Mrs. Richards was a homemaker and sang in The Master’s III, a mother-daughter trio.She was amember of Freedom Life Church Of God.She was also actively involved with the Pocomoke Cowboy Church in Franklin County where she served as the Choir Director and the Tar River Cowboy Church in Louisburg where she was the church pianist .Mrs. Richards was also a member of the East Coast Gospel Music Association, where she was a former Sergeant-At-Arms.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM at Freedom Life Church Of God by the Rev. Jeff Prewer and the Rev. Spencer Strickland. Burial will follow in the Gillburg United Methodist Church. In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband, Bobby Richards of the home; two daughters, Heather R. Wall of Hope Mills, NC and Krystina Richards of Henderson; one son, Nicholas Richards of Henderson; one brother, Stanley Slaughter of Roxboro; and one granddaughter.
The family will receive friends Saturday prior to the service from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at Freedom Life Church Of God.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Daniel Gerber, David Paine, John Khron, Randy King, Ray Corbett, James Boger, Michael Register, and David Register.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to the Sandra Kaye Richards Funeral Fund, c/o J. M. White Funeral Home, 60 Zeb Robinson Road, Henderson, N. C. 27536.
