Sarah Overton Hight

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Sarah Frances Overton Hight, age 82, a resident of 520 Parham Road, was carried into the presence of the Lord Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at Maria Parham Medical Center.Born in Vance County on January 14, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Theodore Roosevelt Overton and Annie Johnson Overton.Sarah was a long-time, dedicated employee of Dr. Gilbert Sellars and retired from Family Eye Center.She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she was a long- time, nurturing volunteer in the church nursery.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 pm at First United Methodist Church by Dr. John M. Check.Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Walter Edd Hight, Jr. of Henderson; two sons, Walter Edd Sandy Hight, III of Pasadena, MD and Russell Rusty Anthony Hight of Henderson; two daughters, Kathy Hight Culbertson and husband Krispen of Brown Summit, NC and Nancy Elizabeth Hight of Cedar Grove, NC; three brothers, Pete Overton of Charlotte, Sam Overton of Henderson and William Overton of Tucson, AZ; one sister, Shirley Partin of Henderson; and four grandchildren, Dusty Hight, Daniel Hight, Arrington Culbertson and Ainsley Culbertson.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Durwood Hester and Monroe Overton; and three sisters, Rebecca Collins, Mary SusieGrissom and Mattie Bell Overton.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 until 2:00 pm prior to the service in Rose Chapel of First United Methodist Church.At other times, they will be at the home at 520 Parham Road.
