Sarah Britt Lester

Sarah Britt Lester, 98, passed away Friday, September 30, 2022. Born on September 21, 1924 in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late William Leslie Britt and Alice Southerland Britt, and was the widow of William Howard Lester. Mrs. Lester retired as bookkeeper for the former Citizens Insurance, and was a member of First Congregational Christian Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. A graveside service will be held Monday, October 10th at 2:00 PM at Sunset Gardens by the Rev. George Williams. The family will receive friends prior to the service at J. M. White Funeral Home from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. She is survived by her daughter, Julia L. Johnson (Darrel) of Kittrell; two sons William Edwin “Bill” Lester (Susan) of Doylestown, PA, and Rev. Dr. David Howard Lester (Joyce) of Orrington. ME; six grandchildren, Kim Lester, Nick Lester, Elaine L. Nester, Sharon L. Pelkey, Eric Johnson, and Will Johnson; and 10 great grandchildren.
