Sherwood Harp

SherwoodHarp, age 78, a resident of 2966 N. Lynnbank Road, died Sunday, February 13, 2011, at his home.Born on May 27, 1932 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Genie Marvin Harp and Jamie Grissom Harp.He was the former owner and operator of Odd Jobs Unlimited . Mr. Harp was a member of Fuller Chapel United Church of Christ where he was a former Deacon and Trustee, a member of The Bible Class Sunday School Class, Chairman of the Ushers, and a member of the cemetery committee
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 pm at Fuller Chapel United Church Of Christ by the Rev. Tammy Ayscue.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by one son, Sherwood Wayne Harp and wife, Dante of Wake Forest ; son-in-law, H. Vernon Pendergrass, Jr. of Henderson; three brothers, Marvin W Harp and wife, Rose, Alton H. Harp and wife June, and Hartwell R. Harp and wife, Ann all of Henderson; two sisters, Edna Harp King and husband, Nash and Frances Harp Roberson and husband, Melvin all of Henderson; five grandchildren, Christopher V. Pendergrass and wife, Lisa, Keith E. Pendergrass and wife, Andrea, Kelley J. Pendergrass, Susan J. Harp and Amanda E. Harp; and two great grandchildren, Christopher V. Pendergrass, II and Connor S. Pendergrass.He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Brame Harp and one daughter; Gayle Harp Pendergrass; two brothers, Floyd Ray Harp and James E. Harp; two sisters, Shirley Harp and Judy D. Harp.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Fellowship Hall of Fuller Chapel United Church of Christ. At other times they will be at the home of Vernon Pendergrass at 2900 N. Lynnbank Road.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Ralph Christopher, Wayne Franklin, Thomas Riley, Donald Coghill, Sonny Coghill, T.T. Beckham II, T. T. Beckham III and Alan Hedgepeth.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Fuller Chapel United Church of Christ Building Fund c/o Dolores Grissom, 140 E. Main Street, Kittrell, NC 27544.
