Shirley Preddy Briggs

KITTRELL- Shirley Marie Preddy Briggs, 86, of Kittrell Road, died Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Duke University Hospital. Born March 2, 1937 in Granville County, she was the daughter of the late Lessie Hicks Preddy and Buck Preddy and was the widow of Hartwell K. Briggs. She retired from Americal where she worked as a clerk. Shirley was a member of South Henderson Church of God where funeral services will be held Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. by Rev. Wayne Clark. Burial will follow in the Fuller Chapel Church Cemetery. She is survived by a daughter, Theresa Lorraine Bywater of Morongo Valley, California; two granddaughters, Jessica Shirl Hayes and Sarah Gray Isenberg; a son-in-law, Allen Hayes of Kittrell; a sister, Doris Wheeler of Franklin County; many nieces and nephews and extended family. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Angie B. Hayes; and two brothers, Landis Preddy and Thomas Preddy. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at South Henderson Church of God, following the burial in the Fuller Chapel Church fellowship hall and at other times at her home, 2333 Kittrell Road, Kittrell, NC 27544. Serving as pallbearers will be John Carter, Junior Tucker, Buster Hicks, Edward Wheeler, Gilbert Wheeler and Corbitt Cash.
