Thomas "Tommy" Charles Mantas

ROCKY MOUNT- Thomas Charles “Tommy” Mantas, 66, of Cokey Road, died Friday, September 6, 2024 at a local nursing home. Born October 08, 1957 in Binghampton, NY, he was the son of the late Christine Louise Hines Ballance and Charles Paul Mantas, and was the step-son of Lucy Oakes Mantas of Henderson. Tommy was a carpenter and also a supervisor with Ilco Unican. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy. He loved his family and was a movie buff. In spite of his seemingly rough demeanor, he was thought of as a sweetheart. In addition to his step-mother, he is survived by three sisters, Theresa Mantas Shaw of Winter Park, FL, Diane Mantas Kennedy (Johnny) of Oxford, GA and Valerie Mantas Edwards (Benton) of Wilson; two nieces, Rosa Saw and Cameron Ward (Owen); and a nephew, Turner Ward (Shelby). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Richard Shaw. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to NC Victims Assistance Network (NC-VAN) at P.O.
