Thomas Edward Watkins

Thomas Edward Watkins, 84, a resident of Cannady Mill Road, died Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Maria Parham Health. Born on May 4, 1938 in Granville County, he was the son of the late Edward Lee Watkins and Allie Thomas Newton Watkins. Thomas was formerly employed as a Supervisor with Harriett & Henderson Yarns, Inc., a tobacco farmer, and a self-employed truck driver. He was a member of Peace’s Chapel Baptist Church where memorial services will be held Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at 11:00 AM by the Rev. David Richardson and the Rev. Gary Brummitt. Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mary Frances Strum Watkins of the home; and one son, Jeffrey Thomas Watkins (Cynthia) of Kittrell. He was predeceased by two sons, Charles Edward Watkins (Vickie) and Robert Craig Watkins. Thomas was the grandfather to nine grandchildren: Jeff’s children, Vincent (Katie), Jennifer (Ryan), Katelin (Lee), and Patrick (Caroline); Eddie’s children, Lance (Leslie), Nolan, and Dayna; and Craig’s children, Megan and Emily (Emory); and six great grandchildren. He will also be lovingly remembered by his sister, Linda Newcomb; and his brother Alex Watkins (Jean); and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and two sons, he was preceded in death by his nephew, Kevin Newcomb. The family will receive friends at the home.
