Thomas Franklin Whittemore, 95, a resident of S. Lynnbank Road, died Saturday, June 11, 2022, at his home. Born in Warren County on September 19, 1926, he was the son of the late Benjamin Franklin Whittemore and Bessie Paynter Whittemore, and was the widower of Amy Guerrant Whittemore who he was married to for 69 years. Mr. Whittemore was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II. He was retired from Lights Construction Company and formerly worked for George W. Kane Construction Company. He was a member of Kittrell Baptist Church for over 50 years where he served as a Deacon for many years and was a member of the Cullem Baptist Association. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 PM in the J. M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Barbara Murphy. Burial with Military Honors will be held at Sunset Gardens. He is survived by one son Michael Whittemore (Audrey) of Henderson; two daughters, Christine Brame (Kim) of Henderson and Shelia Fleming (Danny) of Kittrell; daughter-in-law, Desiree Pernell Whittemore of Henderson; 10 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Bessie Brown and Louise Smith. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Franklin Thomas Whittemore; four sisters Opal Redding, Velma Norris, Shirley Pitchford and Mildred Hutchins; and one brother Calvin Whittemore. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Tuesday from 1:00 until 2:00 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home on S. Lynnbank Rd. Serving as active pallbearers will be Kevin Lassiter, Chad Whittemore, Michael Whittemore, Jr., Scott Brame, Chris Foster, and Brian Daniel. Honorary pallbearers will be Cale Hilliard, Robert Olearo, Kevin Faulk, and Mike Eaton.
