Timothy Eugene Woody

August 23, 1964 — January 7, 2024

ELIZABETH CITY- Timothy “Tim” Eugene Woody, Sr., 59, of Grandview Drive, died Sunday, January 7, 2024 at his home. Born August 23, 1964 in Haywood County, he was the son of the late Norma Eldreth Woody and Bobby Eugene Woody. He was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps and employed with Nexcom as a District Manager. Tim enjoyed many, many things including fishing, boating, golfing, and being in the kitchen cooking old family recipes and adding his twist to them. Everyone always requested his baked beans, lasagna, spaghetti, deviled eggs, and peanut butter delights and he was happy to do it. He always had his iPad nearby to watch his favorite teams, the Indianapolis Colts, NY Mets, and NC State. Above all, there’s no denying that his heart and joy was his family. He met the love of his life , Tammy, on a blind date in 1982 and they were married shortly after in 1983. It was apparent to everyone then and now, they were each other’s person. Tim joined the Marines and their life journey began after boot camp in Beaufort, SC. Later to be stationed in Oceanside, California where Tim, their one and only bundle of joy was born. He would beam and tear up just mentioning and saying Tim’s (Timmy’s) name. Only Tim’s close family and friends knew of his quick wit and how funny he was and everyone else saw his military demeanor. He was a member of Tungsten Baptist Church where funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 P.M conducted by Rev. Johnny Balmer. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the church cemetery. Tim is survived by his wife, Tammy Parham Woody; his son, Timothy “Tim” Eugene Woody, II of Irvine, CA; his brother, Mark Howard Woody and wife, Amy of Murfreesboro, TN; and his niece, Alyse Woody. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. on Friday at Tungsten Baptist Church and at other times at 2543 Bodie Currin Road, Oxford, NC 27565. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org, or PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692 (please include the printable tribute donation form found on the website under the “mail a donation” option).
