HENDERSON-Tommy Wayne Dickerson, 72, a resident of 3812 Old County Home Road, died Friday, April 28, 2017, at his home.Born in Vance County on February 1, 1945, he was the son of the late Raymond Dickerson and Myrtle Ayscue Dickerson. He was raised by his mother and step-father, Kenneth Pearce.
Mr. Dickerson was a Veteran of the United States Air Force.He was retired from the
former Laurens Glass Plant where he worked for 45 years and was a member of South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 3 pm at South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. Frank Sossamon.Burial with Military Honors will follow in Sunset Gardens.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Short Dickerson of the home; two sons, Billy Dickerson (Brenda) and Scott Dickerson (Nikki) of Henderson; eight grandchildren, Kodi Dickerson, Kristen Parker (Dustin), Trey Dickerson, Jae Dickerson, Bug Dickerson, T. J. Tuck, Logan Hamlin, and Montana Hamlin; two brothers, Gerald Dickerson (Virginia) of West Monroe, LA and Bobby Dickerson of Charlotte. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his step-father, Kenneth Pearce.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Monday from 1:30 until 3 pm at South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church.At other times they will be at the home.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Thomas Bradshaw, Larry Wright, Randy Pittillo, Rick Davis, Brian Choplin, and Keith Pruitt.
Serving as honorary pall bearers will be Roy Morton, Ernest Robinson, Charles Moody, Skeeter Garrett, Phil Pendergrass, Andy Short, Glenn Short, Phillip Wayne Short, Jimmy Pillow, Sr. and Christopher Short.
