Tony Ray Allen, Sr.

HENDERSON- Tony Ray Allen, Sr., 76, of Willow Oak Place, died Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Duke University Medical Center. Born May 13, 1948 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Aileen Ayscue Allen and David Thomas Allen, Sr. He was a United States Army Veteran; as a ranking Sergeant he served during the Vietnam Era and was a Purple Heart recipient. Tony retired from the United States Postal Service where he was a postal carrier. He was an avid U.N.C. and New York Yankees fan as well as an avid golfer. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 24, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at Calvary Baptist Church, where he was a member, conducted by Dr. Gene Wood and Rev. Will Breedlove. Burial with military honors will follow at Sunset Gardens. Tony is survived by his wife of 47 years, Becky Jones Allen; two daughters, Lisa Allen Thomas and husband, Dan of Oxford and Sheryl Allen Greene and husband, Lewis of Alberta, VA; a son, Tony Ray Allen, Jr. and wife, Jennifer of Warrenton; two grandchildren, Cailey Thomas and Dylan Thomas; and his sister, Peggy Allen Evans of Henderson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, David Thomas Allen, Jr. and Larry Allen, Sr. Serving as active pallbearers will be Larry Allen, Jr., Chris Jones, Randy Ayscue, Joey Thompson, Sam Morse and Dylan Thomas. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Marty Ayscue, Russell Newman, Chuck Parrish, Gary Pulley, Billy Overton and C. T. Overton. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. at J.M. White Funeral Home.
