Tucker Dewitt Daniel

DURHAM - Tucker Dewitt Daniel, 87, of Durham, NC, passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. Born June 22, 1938 in Granville County, he was the son of the late Ruby Peake Daniel and James Howard Daniel, Sr. He graduated from Berea High School, Louisburg College, and East Carolina University where he received a BS degree in Environmental Health. In civilian life, Tucker was employed for 35 years with the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources. After retirement he was employed for 10 years with the Durham County Health Department. Tucker also served in the National Guard for 28 years. He retired from Headquarters Company 30th Engineer Brigade NC ARGG, Charlotte. His unit awarded Tucker the Army Commendation Medal, the NC National Guard Commendation Medal, and the US Army Retirement Flag. Tucker was a member of Durham Masonic Lodge #352 AF & AM for approximately 50 years and active with American Legion Post #7 in Durham. In 1998 he was awarded The Order of The Long Leaf Pine. Tucker is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Daniel Wilson (Brian), and two grandchildren, Caroline and Jason. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother James Howard Daniel. Services are incomplete at this time.
