HENDERSON- Tucker Jerry Stanton, age 82, a resident of 1350 S. Lake Lodge Rd, died Monday, January 13, 2014 at his home.Born in Vance County on March 5, 1931 he was the son of the late Tucker Ballard Stanton and Lucy Conn Stanton.He was a retired assistant plant manager for the former Harriet and Henderson Yarns Inc. South Henderson Plant.Mr. Stanton was a Veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard having served during the Korean Conflict.He also was a member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church where he was active in many capacities including cooking the church stew using his own recipe for their fundraisers.
Funeral services with Military Honors will be held Thursday at 2:00 PM at Union Chapel United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Joseph Precht. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife Betty Roberts Stanton of the home; two daughters, Kathy S. Faucette and husband Paul of Henderson and Susan S. Cottrell and husband Todd of Henderson; a son, Jerry Scott Stanton of Henderson; five grandchildren, Preston Wade and wife, Jennifer, Eric Faucette, Katelann Stanton, Jeremy Faucette, Scott Stanton, Jr.; two great grandchildren, Laci Wade and Stella Wade; two sisters, Anne S. Briggs and husband Elvin of Burlington and Frances S. Matthews and husband Eddie of Henderson; and two brothers, Billy C. Stanton and wife Elsie of Henderson and Charles A. Stanton and wife Natashia of Henderson.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Wade and a sister, Jewel Stanton.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Thursday in the Union Chapel Fellowship Hall from 12:30 till 2:00 PM.At other times they will be at the home.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Eric Faucette, Jeremy Faucette, Saul Esparza, Durwood Wells, Ralph Ross, Joe Ledford, Tony Sanford, Eddie Matthews, Preston Wade and Scott Stanton, Jr. Honorary pall bearers will be Richard Earls, Dale Lent, Barney Bullock and the men of Union Chapel United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Union Chapel UMC Cemetery Fund C/O David Pulley, 6479 Raleigh Rd., Kittrell, NC 27544.
The family would like to thank the entire Oncology Department at Maria Parham Medical Center especially Dr. Ivy Altamare and Mr. Stantons hospice nurse, Jamie Elliott.
