HENDERSON, NC-Tyrer Grimes "Pete" Bain, Jr., age 87, a resident of 203 Red Bud Circle, died Monday, August 12, 2013, in a local nursing home.Born in Norfolk, Virginia on August 25, 1925, he was the son of the late Tyrer Grimes Bain, Sr. and Evelyn Godsey Bain.Pete was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II, and was a retired Senior Merchandising Manager for Roses Stores, Inc. where he worked for thirty-five years.He was a member of Royster Memorial Presbyterian Church in Norfolk, Virginia and was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Henderson and the Henderson Rotary Club.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 am at First Presbyterian Church in Henderson by the Rev. Keith Benze.Graveside services will be held Friday at 1 pm in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk, Virginia by the Rev. John Monroe.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ruth Virginia Kerton Bain of the home; one daughter, Suzanne B. Lambert and husband, Dennis of Henderson; one son, Kenneth L. Bain and wife, Marcia of Chesapeake, VA; five grandchildren, Kenneth Bain, Jr., Lindsey B. Warringer, Elizabeth B. Aylesworth, Kathrine L. Farrell, and Taylor Lambert; and two great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service on Thursday in the Fellowship Hall of First Presbyterian Church.At other times they will be at the home of Suzanne and Dennis Lambert at 1437 Peace Street, Henderson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association for Tyrer G. Bain, Jr., 4127 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, Va. 23060-9979.
