Vernelle Geary Champion, 76, of 428 Briggs Road, died Wednesday, November 14,2018 at Maria Parham Health.Born in Vance County on January 24, 1942 she was the daughter of the late George Benjamin Geary and Annie Mae Hanford Geary.She was retired from Belk Department Store.She was a member of Victory Baptist Church and a volunteer with in the gift shop at Maria Parham Health.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:00 PM at Victory Baptist Church by Rev. Ricky Easter. A private burial will be held at a later date.
She is survived by two sons, Bruce Allen Champion, Jr. and wife, Donna and Larry Wayne Champion, Sr. both of Henderson; one sister, Delores Wortham Peltola of Henderson; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Tammy Gale C. Loughlin.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 PM till 3:00 PM at Victory Baptist Church and at other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Victory Baptist Church, PO Box 592, Henderson, NC 27536.
