HENDERSON- Vernon Bobby Lockemy, age 78, a resident of 1607 Bane Ave., died Monday, August 25, 2014 at his home.Born in Vance County onSeptember 29, 1935 he was the son of the late Offie Lockemy and Mattie Liles Lockemy.Mr. Lockemy was a veteran of the United States Army and was a retired foreman with Burkart Inc.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM in the chapel of J.M. White Funeral Home by Rev. Marshall Neathery.Entombment will follow at Sunset Gardens.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Williamson Lockemy of the home; a daughter, Norie L. Watkins and husband Ronnie of Henderson; two granddaughters, Lindsey W. Dethmers and husband Chris and Whitney Watkins; four great grandchildren, Becca Dethmers, Isabella Dethmers, Austin Dethmers, and Brent Haith; and a sister, Mahaley L. Tharrington of Henderson.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Garland Lockemy, A.B. Lockemy, Thurston Lockemy and Offie Lockemy, Jr.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service.At other times they will be at the home.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Ronnie Watkins, Chris Dethmers, Rusty Currin, Jay Ayscue, Allen Peoples, and D.H. Edwards.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Island Creek Baptist Church, 950 Stagecoach Rd., Henderson, NC 27537.
