Henderson- Virginia Poythress Boyd, 93, returned to her heavenly home on May 3, 2015, surrounded by her family and loved ones.Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her life here on earth and ultimately gave her peace.
Virginia was born in Vance County on June 30, 1921 to the late William Oliver Poythress and Lessie Hoyle Poythress.She is preceded in death by her husband, Elmus M. Boyd, her daughter, Ellen Diane, and four brothers, John C. Poythress, Bruce A. Poythress, George M. Poythress, and Joseph Buck O. Poythress.
She touched the lives of all the paths she crossed.She was a dedicated member of Clearview Church.She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend.She was a soft spoken woman, but never missed an opportunity to share her faith and testimony to all she came into contact with.She will be missed dearly by many, who can celebrate the fact that knowing she is at peace with her Lord Jesus Christ.
A private burial will be held at Sunset Gardens.A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, May 5th at 11 am at Clearview Church, conducted by Rev. Abidan Shah.The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service at Clearview Church.
Virginia is survived by her sister, Vivian P. Longmire; her children, Maurice Boyd, Charles Boyd and wife Mary, Glenn Boyd and wife Angie, Jerry Boyd and wife Rhonda; grandchildren, Lana Wiard, Allen Boyd, Brandon Boyd, Brian Boyd, Cara Boyd, Laura Chandler, Anna Boyd, Jenny Boyd, Cole Boyd, and Beau Boyd; and four great grandchildren.
