Virginia ONeal Gupton, age 82, a resident of Graham Avenue, died Saturday, September 12, 2015, at Granville House in Oxford.Born on February 19, 1933 in Nash County, she was the daughter of the late Herman ONeal and Columbia Perry ONeal, and was the widow of Alvin David Gupton.Mrs. Gupton was a member of South Henderson Church of God. She was a retired LPN having worked at Maria Parham Hospital, the former Wester-Tucker Clinic on Chestnut Street, Senior Citizens Nursing Home, and was the Nursing Supervisor at North Henderson Cotton Mill. Virginia was also the Nursing Coordinator for the former Community Care.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 pm at South Henderson Church of God, on J. P Taylor Road, by the Rev. Gary Harper and the Rev. Charles Ray Anderson.Burial will follow in Middleburg Cemetery.
She is survived by two daughters, Betty Gupton Furniss (Chuck) and Lindy Gupton Marshall of Henderson; two sons, Fenner Gupton (Janice) of Rock Mount and David Gupton of Henderson; one sister, Peggy Taylor of Zebulon; two brothers, Jimmy ONeal of Raleigh and Herman Buddy ONeal of Garner; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Judy G. Stanley and Christy G. Bostick.
The family will receive friends Monday night from 7 until 8:30 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home of Chuck and Betty Furniss at 308 Yowland Road.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Scott Robertson, Greg Gupton, David Wallace, Doug Marshall, Raymond Pendergrass, and Marion Perkinson.
