Virginia Morgan Norwood

Virginia Morgan Norwood, 85, a resident of Cypress Drive, died Sunday, January 23, 2022, at Maria Parham Health. Born on March 21, 1936 in Ontario, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Frank Wilson Morgan and Elizabeth Bruce Morgan. Virginia was the Manager of the former Hite’s Clothing Store. She was a member of First Baptist Church Henderson and the Ruth Gardner Sunday School Class, and was an honorary member of the Woodland Garden Club. A memorial service will be held Friday, January 28, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church by Dr. Ronald S. Cava and the Rev. Gary Brummitt. She is survived by her husband, John Lewis Norwood of the home; two daughters, Diane N. Harward and Patricia N. Barnes of Raleigh; one son, Michael M. Norwood of Chapel Hill; five grandchildren, Tracy Jones, Chris Barnes, Will Barnes, Alston Norwood, and Grayson Norwood; and two great grandsons, Nash Barnes and Preston Jones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Nell Norwood; and her son-in-law, Tim Harward. The family will receive friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church. At other times they will be at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the First Baptist Church, PO Box 75, Henderson, NC 27536.
