HENDERSON- Virginia Mae Owen, 84, of Hicksboro Road, died Thursday, July 29, 2021.Born in Vance County on November 15, 1936, she was the daughter of the late James Bernard Owen and Helen Roberson Owen. Virginia was a member of Harris Chapel United Methodist Church where she served as the pianist and organist for more than 65 years.She was retired from City Tire where she worked as the office manager for 59 years.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, August 1, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Harris Chapel United Methodist Church by Rev. Glen Stallsmith.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Virginia is survived by two sisters, Vallie Stem and husband, Jesse and Helen Faye Owen, all of Henderson; a niece, Susan Holtzman and husband, Charles; two great nephews, Justin Holtzman and wife, Jamie and Kyle Holtzman and wife, Deborah Leigh; a great niece, Jill Perkinson and husband, Brad; eight great-great nieces and a great-great nephew.
The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall of Harris Chapel United Methodist Church and at other times at 3850 Kelly Road, Henderson, NC 27537.
Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Holtzman, Kyle Holtzman, Charles Holtzman, Jerry Reaves, Brad Perkinson, Glen Rogers and Mike Rainey.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Harris Chapel UMC C/O Lawrence Brame, 280 Kelly Road, Henderson, NC 27537.
